A few weeks ago, I decided to look at more AI writing tools in-depth. I find them fascinating.
The first ever AI assistant I reviewed back in 2021 was ShortlyAI, which has a minimal interface and a few features.
Since then, AI has evolved so much that you blink and lose it. Platforms are full of features that include search engine optimization, image generators and much more.
So today, I’m going to dive into a tool that’s much more than a simple AI writing assistant: NeuronWriter. You’ll learn about its main features, pricing and pros and cons.
NeuronWriter
NeuronWriter is a content optimization platform that is part of CONTADU, a content intelligence platform that provides strategic insights for content managers and copywriters. It was founded in 2019 and led by co-founder and CEO Pawel Sokolowski.
Key Features
Interface
NeuronWriter has a cute cat that accompanies you all along your journey.
However, I’m not really a fan of the content editor’s look. Unless you put the distraction-free mode on, you’ll have a lot of information on the page and the editor will seem too small.
Moreover, all over the platform, there are multiple scroll bars which make it really annoying to move around.

Competitor’s Analysis
When you first land on the dashboard, you’ll see this popup:
Before generating content, you first need to analyze SERPs and competition for a given query.
To do that, choose a keyword, a target country and a target language. You can choose between a large list of languages, however, NeuronWriter doesn’t contemplate language dialects.
If you want to go a bit more advanced, you can also include custom URLs and additional keywords.
Then, you’ll end up in the content’s query window, where you’ll find your analysis. Once it’s ready, click on it and you’ll be directed to the competitor’s window.
Here, select relevant competitors that have the same content type as you and have the highest content score. You need to pick at least between 3 and 5 competitors.
Once you’re done, click next and you’ll move to the Content Editor.
Content Editor
The second step is writing. This is where you should write a title and meta description or let the AI write for you and edit what you want.
NeuronWriter will show you a preview of how your snippet will look on desktops and mobiles.
Once you have the title, you can go to Outline and determine the number of headings, or simply go to AI-writing and select one of the options.
I went with generating a paragraph and that’s when things turned a bit weird.
I chose Spanish as my target language, so the title generated was in Spanish, but for some reason, the paragraph ended up being a mix of Spanish and English.
To be honest, I’ll blame this error on the competitor’s analysis step, probably one of the pages was in English and that confused the AI, although it’s still weird.
Internal Links Suggestion
One of the tasks that helps your SEO is paying attention to links. Sometimes it’s link building, which we have talked about in other posts.
But establishing links between your own articles is also important. To do that, simply click on the Generate internal link ideas button inside this tool and NeuronWriter will give you a set of similar articles related to a specific keyword within your domain.
Output Settings
NeuronWriter has an interesting output feature, which is the thermostat. You can determine how creative your content is from coldest to hottest, the coldest being less original but more reliable, while the hottest being more unique and less predictable.
It also has 3 options for AI models: GPT-4o-mini, GPT-4o and Claude Sonnet 3.5.
Once you have the outline, click the “Write for me” button.
Export
You can export content in various formats: raw HTML, minimal HTML, docx, formatted text and more.
Keyword Cluster
One of NeuronWriter’s features when it comes to keywords is its keyword cluster.
The platform organizes topic-related suggestions into keyword clusters. That way, it simplifies the visualization and comprehension of the relationships among hundreds of related keywords and the main topic.
Image Generation
NeuronWriter doesn’t focus solely on writing, it also generates images. This is a very recent new feature, it was launched last November.
They upload the image to their CDN to make the process as smooth as possible.
There are 4 style options: cartoon, photograph, painting and watercolor.
You can also choose the image ratio: 1:1, 4:3, 3:2 and 16:9.
I asked for a cozy living room with a big TV displaying a movie. Here’s the result:
It’s supposed to look like a painting but it actually looks like a photograph…
Plagiarism Checker
The plagiarism checker is available in the Gold plan and is higher. It is powered by PlagiaShield, a third-party plagiarism detection software that is integrated into NeuronWriter.
The process can take 2 to 5 minutes and gives you a list of sources that seem to have been plagiarized.
Team Collaboration
Team Collaboration is a feature available in the Gold plan, however, free trial users also have access to it.
When you invite team members to collaborate, you need to select what kind of permissions they get. The options are to create new analyses within the project and manage integrations/content synchronization.
However, it’s unclear how many users can you add.
One of NeuronWriter’s tools for teams is the Comments feature in the Content Editor. Just like in Google Docs or Word, you can leave comments to point out things inside the text and your teammates can either reply to it or resolve it.
Content Plan
This section of NeuronWriter is designed to write down ideas you want to work on in the future. But it’s especially useful if you have a team.
Once you add a keyword for that idea, you’ll see two categories appear: assigned to and expected. If you’ve ever used Notion, this feature might remind you of a much more simplified version of Notion’s trackers.
The content management section gives you a visual approach to your plan. It’s basically a calendar you can organize per month, week or list.
Integrations
It integrates with WordPress, Shopify and Google Search Console.
If you integrate with Search Console, you’ll be able to track search visibility and access data such as top keywords, top URLs and cannibalization.
Chrome Extension
NeuronWriter has a Chrome extension that supports Google Docs, WordPress and the Shopify editor.
Support and resources
NeuronWriter has a FAQ section, a blog, an Academy and multiple tutorial videos you’ll see once you log in.
They also have a YouTube channel full of videos, however, the latest are from 9 months ago.
If you need to contact support, live chat is available in the dashboard. There’s also a Facebook community you can join to get help from other users.
Pricing
NeuronWriter has a 6-day free trial and 5 premium plans:
- Bronze: $23 per year. It includes standard AI templates and a content plan.
- Silver: $45 per year. Get 50 content writer analyses per month.
- Gold: $69 per year. Access the Neuron API and integrations like Shopify.

NeuronWriter Pros and Cons
Pros
NeuronWriter is a complete AI writing assistant that doesn’t limit itself to text. It has been clearly inspired by the most popular and beloved tools out there like Word and Notion to provide an all-in-one platform with all the features you need.
It has plenty of learning resources to help you get started and it integrates with the main tools you need.
Cons
Although it’s great that NeuronWriter has a free trial, it’s super short, so you don’t really get to do much with it.
Moreover, a lot of features such as the paragraph writer seem to have some tiny issues.
Verdict
So there you have it. A look into NeuronWriter.
The thing is, it has an immense amount of features for a very affordable price. However, as you’ve seen in this post, not everything is perfect. It seems that, although NeuronWriter is launching new tools, some features require updates.
I hope NeuronWriter fixes these issues soon, because it’s a very powerful tool!
Anyway, things change constantly so I encourage you to test it yourself using the free trial.
