We all know how important taking care of search engine optimization is for your website’s visibility and thus lead generation.
And when it comes to SEO and tools, there are tons out there—so much it can be overwhelming. You have the ones that focus on keywords, mobile responsiveness, content, and more.
Luckily, the best in the market typically offer a more all-in-one approach.
In this post, we’ll talk about two SEO platforms that focus on content but include other tools such as keyword optimization.
We’ll compare Surfer SEO and Page Optimizer Pro. We’ll also examine their main features, pricing, and pros and cons.
Surfer SEO vs Page Optimizer Pro
SurferSEO
SurferSEO is an SEO content optimization company with more than 20 years of experience.
It’s the combined vision and effort of founders Sławek Czajkowski, Lucjan and Michał Suski; as well as Tomasz Niezgoda and Kazik Piętka.
Amongst its main features, you’ll find a Content Editor, a Content Audit and Surfer AI.
Page Optimizer Pro
Page Optimizer Pro is an on-page SEO and content optimization tool suite that is used in 190 countries around the world.
Its inventor, Kyle Roof, created a method for testing and rating ranking variables used in search engine algorithms and patented it in the US.
It’s currently used by more than 6K users, including Hostinger.
Key features
Audit tools
As we mentioned, Page Optimizer Pro has a unique tool invented by Kyle Roof that scans the SERPs (Search Engine Results Page) and provides a roadmap explaining how you can adjust your page’s signals to improve your business’s visibility.
It analyzes factors like keyword usage and density, headings, subheadings and content length.
According to their site, the average score a new user gets when they run their page through POP is only 37.35 out of 100, and their audit tool can give you quick wins and easy traffic gains.
As to SurferSEO, it has a Content Audit tool that analyzes your published pages and compares them against the top-ranking pages.
Connect your Google Search Console to Surfer and see an overview of what needs improving, like keyword usage, page speed, headings, meta tags, and more.
Surfer SEO also has an Auto Optimize tool that allows you to refresh old content with two clicks.
EEAT
EEAT stands for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness, and it’s a major part of Google’s search algorithm.
Page Optimizer Pro offers an E-E-A-T report that displays signals tagged for each of your top competitors as well as yours.
Surfer SEO, on the other hand, takes care of your E-E-A-T with custom knowledge. This part of their AI allows you to customize the content by enriching it with your expertise and thus ranking higher and improving your E-E-A-T.
Content Editor
Surfer SEO’s Content Editor analyzes the top-ranking pages for a keyword and provides recommendations for keyword variations to include word count, page structure and more.
It even has a built-in Outline Builder to structure your content into a detailed outline, complete with unique potential headings and questions.
AI Writing Assistant
AI writing assistants have been a trend in the last few years. We’ve talked about them multiple times, whether as standalone tools or features inside of other platforms.
Surfer SEO and Page Optimizer Pro haven’t fallen behind and they too offer AI writing tools.
Surfer SEO has Surfer AI, which works with the GPT-4o engine.
It generates articles from a keyword, template and tone of voice. You can also edit, rephrase and refine each generated article in real-time per your suggestions, as well as generate images.
There’s even an AI detection tool, in case that matters to your client.
Page Optimizer Pro’s AI writer rewrites and optimizes your content, ensuring that it includes all the essential keywords and phrases for better search engine visibility.
It also has an interesting feature, the POP AI Bulk, which enables your content team to generate up to 50 pieces of SEO-optimized content at a time.
Team Collaboration
Both Surfer SEO and Page Optimizer Pro let you add team members to your account. While Surfer SEO lets you invite up to 5 members right from its lowest plan, POP requires you to purchase a team plan, which is more expensive than its unlimited single-user plan.
With POP, you can also add seats for $12 per month.
Amongst Surfer SEO’s collaboration tools, you’ll find the ability to delegate edits through mentions, check the version history, leave comments and more. You can also share the editable Content Editor without having to give access to your Surfer account or password, which is great if you outsource the work.
Integrations
SurferSEO integrates with Jasper, WordPress, Google Docs and ContentFul.
Both SurferSEO and Page Optimizer Pro offer APIs. However, SurferSEO’s is available only in the Enterprise plan and POP’s is an add-on that costs $10 per month.
Chrome Extension
Both Surfer SEO and Page Optimizer Pro offer Chrome extensions.
Page Optimizer Pro’s extension works as an overlay within Google docs and major website platforms, like WordPress and Shopify. It displays to-do items and page scores that update in real time while you are editing your pages.
Keyword Surfer, Surfer SEO’s extension, focuses, as its name indicates, on keywords. It generates fresh keyword ideas and search volumes, right from your Google search results.
However, recently they added a new feature besides the keyword research option, which is called Humanizer. With Humanizer, you can humanize content generated by ChatGPT and also see how likely your content is to be detected as human-like.
Languages supported
SurferSEO’s AI generates content in 12 languages: English, German, Dutch, Polish, French, Spanish, Danish, Swedish, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Italian and Czech.
Page Optimizer Pro, on the other hand, writes in 62 languages.
Free tools
Surfer SEO offers an AI Outline Generator, a Paraphrasing Tool to rephrase content and its Chrome extension for free.
Page Optimizer Pro, on the other hand, has a free On-Page SEO Checker that gives you a sneak peek of the power inside POP’s plans.
Support and resources
SurferSEO uploads YouTube videos weekly and offers other learning resources like a blog, a knowledge base and an Academy. Their support team is available via chat and email.
Page Optimizer Pro has a Help Center, a blog and multiple podcasts. It also has a YouTube channel, but it’s not super active; they upload now and then. You can contact support via email and they’ll answer super fast.
Both platforms also have private Facebook groups, so you can get support from your peers.

Surfer SEO Pros and Cons
Pros
Surfer SEO has a visually appealing interface that’s user-friendly and ideal for beginners. You don’t need to be a pro in SEO to use it.
Moreover, it has multiple learning resources and is constantly launching new features, such as the weekly updates feature coming soon.
Cons
As seen above, Surfer SEO has considerably more expensive pricing.
Page Optimizer Pro
Pros
Page Optimizer Pro gives you a lot of control and personalized advice. Somehow this flexibility doesn’t make it have a big learning curve: POP is known for having a straightforward and easy-to-use interface.
Despite its affordable plans, it’s also very powerful since it lets you optimize as many pages as you want.
Cons
Although Page Optimizer Pro gives you some keyword suggestions based on your target keyword, it can’t compete with Surfer SEO’s keyword features.
Verdict
Page Optimizer Pro and Surfer SEO have multiple things in common, but they are ultimately quite different.
Page Optimizer Pro has advanced features that are great for experienced SEO professionals, especially those interested in on-page optimization.
Surfer SEO, on the other hand, takes care of more aspects of your SEO strategy since you can optimize both content and keywords. So if you need an all-in-one platform, that’s the one for you.
