Affiliate Marketing is practiced by many bloggers, but Most of them struggle with getting clear affiliate sales that could make some real money.
Not because they are getting low traffic, or they are a beginner, this happens due to some small mistakes. The first and most importantly, the selection of programs/ merchants to promote.
In this post, I will share some tips which you can use to select the best affiliate products. This will help you increase your credibility as well as sales.
There are many things to consider before choosing one, but I will share some of the points I keep in my mind before applying to a new program.
Needless to say that the first thing I always follow is:
1. Relevancy
Relevancy is crucial. An affiliate program you choose should relate to your niche.
For example, I write about blogging, WordPress and SEO, etc., so I should select a program that sells something to which my readers can also relate. That’s why I promote SEMrush, WPBuffs, etc. I also promote web hosts at times.
Now imagine I’d promote a watch or a perfume or women’s apparel or a credit card which indeed pay sky-high. In such cases, My audience would never come back to me.
Always look for something which can easily get merged with your content. This will ensure the legitimacy of your recommendation.
2. Quality And Reputation
The quality and the reputation of the product, as well as the merchant you are promoting, should be considered.
You shouldn’t be promoting those things that won’t give your readers or customers the satisfaction they deserve.
They trust your recommendation, and they spend their hard-earned money on that, you can simply not deceive them.
I promote SEMrush, Thrive Themes, and Leadpages because they are seriously the best at what they can do.
Before the promotion, take time to research the merchant. Read the reviews and always highlight the flaws, if any.
3. Commission And Consumer Cost
No matter how great a product is, if the commission for you as an endorser is low, it’s better to choose another one.
But this shouldn’t be done at the cost of your readers’ satisfaction. There are always alternatives to pick from. You just need to find them.
Why?
Because to keep working, you need money. Obviously, consumer satisfaction is your priority, and that’s why you need to keep the price of your promotions as low as possible.
I won’t promote a web host that charges you $50 a month and gives you pathetic service. Just like that, I also won’t promote a host that gives me peanuts on the name of the commission.
It should be affordable to the consumer but at the same time, it should also give you a financial boost. Find a program that maintains this right balance of price at both ends.
The Best Practice
Sell something your audience needs and can afford.
At this point, you should be using analytical data for finding the perfect thing your audience is looking for.
We love things we get for free or at a minimal cost. However, this isn’t possible with most of the things over the web, and most people understand that.
That’s why, when you are honest, making sales as an affiliate marketer isn’t tough. The primary aspect to get your first sale and keep it coming is the balance between the quality of the product and the consumer end price.
I’m pretty confident that I didn’t miss much in this 3-only-tips post, but as I am a human just like you, I would love to hear back from you in the comments section below.
