Unbounce Smart Traffic: AI-Powered A/B Testing Tool

One software I love to recommend when it comes to building landing pages, conversion rate optimization and sales.

The reason why I highly appreciate them is their development strategy. They just keep innovating and adding features that make them the best in the market.

Unbounce has recently launched a new feature called Smart Traffic. An A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) powered A/B testing module. It changes the way you currently perform A/B tests between landing pages.

Currently, it is in the BETA stage. That means you can expect periodic changes and additional features to further make it even better.

In this post, I’ll help you understand what Smart Traffic is, why it is huge for internet marketers, why you should start using it.

Smart Traffic Benefits

Unbounce comes with plenty of features that include A/B testing, gated content, auto image optimizer, geotargeting, real-time data and more.

But Smart Traffic is different. It is completely automatic, and since it is powered by AI, it can learn how to engage your audience.

With Smart Traffic, Unbounce aims to give you the best conversion rate for your campaigns. It runs all by itself, so, you can set it and forget about it without worrying about the conversion performance.

1. Automation

This is huge. Using Smart Traffic, it makes it much easier for you to run your marketing campaigns on auto-pilot.

While on automation, your campaigns will generate better results as AI learns and implements improvements faster than humans. You won’t have to manually specify a winner and push it to update your landing pages.

Smart Traffic will automatically identify the best variation from your A/B test starting from as few as 50 impressions. If you have a small scale business and you get under 10,000 visits a month, Smart traffic is still going to work for you.

2. Intelligent Targeting

With Smart Traffic, Unbounce targets your audience and shows them the most relevant landing page without your manual inputs.

It’s automatic and intelligent.

Conventionally, you will first create a landing page with a couple of variations and then you’ll run an A/B test to identify which variant performs the best.

Typically a landing page or A/B test software will run and choose a winner among your landing page variants based on complete random calculations.

However, Smart Traffic does it differently. It targets the users and serves them a variant based on multiple targeting levels. It analyses geolocation, demographics, cookies, devices and other tags to identify what type of audience they are.

This helps Unbounce to serve each user a near-perfect matching landing page. Instead of just serving a random variant, it makes sure the user and the landing page has some similarities.

3. Elimination of Guesswork

If you are an experienced internet marketer, you can look at a landing page and tell if it would outperform the other variants.

But there are many marketers that don’t have the basics right. They are just beginning and lack knowledge.

Smart Traffic will help the beginners by eliminating the pure guesswork they take while running an A/B test. It’s not as simple as creating two different landing pages and test them.

You have to get all the elements right to make a high converting landing page. Which is never guesswork so you are better with proven tactics and AI rather than wasting your time in testing useless pages.

It’s super useful for beginners. What I feel is experienced marketers will positively appreciate how big of a time saver it is.

How to Enable Smart Traffic for Your Unbounce Pages

It’s pretty simple to start using Smart Traffic if you are already an Unbounce user. If you’re not, you can sign up here.

Once you have created an account, create a landing page using the Unbounce drag and drop editor. You’ll have to create two or more variants of your landing page to start using Smart Traffic.

Step 1: Select a Landing Page

If you already have a landing page on your Unbounce account, select it.

If not, then create a new landing page to get started.

Step 2: Create a New Variant

Click on add a variant to create a new landing page for A/B testing.

Step 3: Turn On Smart Traffic

That’s all!.

It’s pretty simple to enable Smart Traffic. Once enabled, you won’t have to worry about manually dividing your traffic to your page variants. The AI will continue learning more about your audience as time passes.

This will help Unbounce to show the right landing page to the right visitor.

A “Learning” bar just above the Active Variants section will show you how much the Artificial Intelligence Algo has been able to learn by analyzing your traffic:

Once this bar goes to 100%, Smart Traffic will start working.

Do note that Smart Traffic can be used for every Unbounce page in your marketing pipeline or sales funnel. Including sales pages, lead pages, and pipeline stages.

There is absolutely no need to choose a single page variant as a winner as per the result of Smart Traffic’s A/B test.

The beauty is it continually learns, and eliminates the possibility of making a mistake again and again. So once you set the Smart Traffic on, it will continue to serve the right pages to the right people without settling down for one single winner.

It works on the approach of “one size doesn’t fit all.”
