There comes a time when you get tired of using multiple different tools for your marketing strategy and you just want an all-in-one platform. Luckily for you, these gems are on the rise and there are a lot to choose from.
In fact, some email marketing tools have evolved to offer more services besides email, and so they’ve entered this category.
Today, we’re taking a look at one of them, GetResponse, and comparing it to Unbounce. We’ll see what they can offer you, pros and cons, pricing and which one is better.
Unbounce vs GetResponse
Unbounce
Launched in 2009 and now one of Canada’s fastest-growing tech companies, Unbounce has more than 120,000 customers using it!
Unbounce focuses on every aspect of a landing page. They have a toolkit called Conversion Intelligence where they work with design, copy and traffic: Smart Builder, Smart Copy and Smart Traffic.
GetResponse
Trusted by big brands like Ikea and Carrefour, GetResponse is a powerful yet simple tool to send emails and automate marketing.
Like MailerLite, GetResponse has top-notch support. It has 24/7 live chat in 8 different languages, email, tutorials and a help center.
Key features
Landing page builder
Landing pages are the main focus of Unbounce.
Unbounce offers 2 landing page builders. On the one hand, the Classical Builder lets you drag and drop whatever you want and has advanced coding and customization options.
Then there’s the Smart Builder, an AI-powered landing page builder that predicts which layouts and headlines will work best for your target audience.
To get a preview of how the Smart Builder works, head to this page.
Plus, Unbounce’s number of landing pages is unlimited.
GetResponse is pretty similar to Unbounce in this matter. You can build a website by picking a template and customizing it with the drag-and-drop builder or using an AI wizard. The latter will generate a personalized website in an instant after you provide it with some information.
However, coming soon, there will be a third option on GetResponse. The new feature “Import website” will create a website for you using text, images and files from your chosen site.
Templates
Unbounce creates personalized templates for you after asking you some questions. However, they also give you the alternative of choosing a template. They have over 100 high-converting landing page templates that work with WordPress.
GetResponse also has multiple responsive landing page templates. They offer templates for an opt-in page, thank you page, about me page and more.
AI writing tools
Unbounce has an AI writing tool called Smart Copy, which we have reviewed in the past.
Smart Copy helps you write a wide range of copy, from landing pages to Google ads. Like most AI writing tools, it asks you for some input and after that, it creates the copy for you.
It also remixes your content, generating something completely new that matches exactly what you want to say. You can pick to write in Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, German and French!
GetResponse, on the other hand, has an AI email generator powered by OpenAI. All you need to do is provide keywords, choose your industry, the tone and design direction. After that, you’ll get an AI-generated email and subject line in less than a minute.
Email marketing
While landing pages are the main focus of Unbounce, emails are the most important aspect of GetResponse, as we anticipated.
As well as its AI email generator, GetResponse also provides you with stunning templates and a drag-and-drop editor to customize them.
Moreover, you’ll also get transactional emails. With this special form of email, you can ensure that your customer always receives a confirmation immediately after placing an order in your business — and all other notifications that focus on the purchasing process.
Unbounce, however, can’t compete on this topic with GetResponse. They don’t provide email marketing services as a whole.
They do let you import your contact details and use the respective profiles for segmentation. And their Dynamic Text Replacement feature allows you to match page text to each email recipient, automatically. However, if you need an email provider, you’ll have to use an integration.
Pop-ups
Unbounce has popups and sticky bars to grab your visitors’ attention. You can pick exactly who sees your popups, trigger when they appear, and dynamically swap in keywords based on visitors’ search terms.
They include scheduled seasonal offers that run automatically so you’re always showing your most relevant promotions
With GetRespond, you’ll be able to create popups, banners and bars for free. Here, too, you can choose popups for specific purposes or occasions from a full library of templates.
You can also specify how often and when you want your pop-up to be triggered. This allows users to browse your site peacefully and not be interrupted too frequently or at the wrong times.
Payments
Unbounce will require you to use Unbounce Apps to add payment functionality from platforms such as Shopify, Stripe, PayPal, WooCommerce and more. However, most of the apps are free so that won’t be a problem.
GetResponse also integrates with payment gateways but it offers fewer options. You’ll be able to connect with PayPal, Stripe and PayU.
Integrations
Unbounce has 34 apps including Calendly and Stripe, and 21 integrations, amongst them, you’ll find HubSpot and Zapier.
GetResponse integrates with more than 170 apps, including Adwords, Bing, KissMetrics, Facebook and more.
Analytics
Unbounce offers you the ability to track your users’ behavior and segment different profiles. This means you can also direct individual customers to different landing pages, depending on what suits them.
This job is done thanks to its Smart Traffic feature, which is part of its Conversion Intelligence approach.
As to GetResponse, it has A/B testing features and advanced segmented options for your email campaigns. You will be able to monitor your emails’ opens, clicks, and subscribers’ engagement and trends with comprehensive reports.
Languages
Neither Unbounce or GetResponse have a language selector in-app. If you don’t speak English, you’ll have to rely on your browser to translate the page.
However, GetResponse does offer translations for some elements on your website. It supports more than 10 languages, including Dutch, Indonesian, French and Spanish.
Support and resources
You can contact Unbounce via live chat, email and phone. You can even drop by if you’re nearby. They have offices in Vancouver and Berlin.
I appreciate the clear communication approach of Unbounce. They let you know that live chat and phone are only available during working hours, but you have a lot of resources to check on your own.
Unbounce offers a Landing Page Course, a Resource Library, an Ultimate Optimization Guide, a Community and so much more. They also have a YouTube channel where you can find snack-sized videos with marketing tips.
GetResponse also has a whole set of learning resources to get you started. They have a Help Center, API Docs, a blog and a webinars library.
Support is available via live chat and email in 8 languages!
They work 24/7.

Like many of these services, prices rise according to the number of your contacts. However, GetResponse won’t upgrade you automatically, so you don’t have to worry about sudden increases in your fee.

Unbounce Pros and Cons
Pros
- A complete AI toolkit: Smart Copy, Smart Traffic and Smart Builder.
- Multiple payment gateways.
Cons
- It doesn’t include advanced email services.
GetResponse Pros and Cons
Pros
- Includes email marketing tools like transactional emails.
- Supports multiple languages.
Cons
- Its free plan is quite limited.
Verdict
Unbounce and GetResponse are fitting opponents. They both offer automation features, cool landing page-building options and excellent support.
However, Unbounce lacks a proper email marketing service. This, of course, can be overlooked thanks to its integrations. But, considering the high prices per month, it’s just not as good as GetResponse.
With GetResponse you’ll get everything you need for your marketing campaign and get an affordable deal.
